Steven Berger

Steven Berger is a Strategic Advisor at Asahi Kasei based in the Boston area, where he evaluates investment opportunities and innovative technologies. He previously served as Managing Director of Asahi Kasei Corporate Venture Capital for a decade, overseeing strategic investments ranging from $100,000 to $5 million. Before transitioning to venture capital, Berger was the Chief Executive Officer of Crystal IS, a UV LED startup acquired by Asahi Kasei in 2011, and held senior executive roles at FEI Company. His early career included research at AT&T Bell Labs, and he holds a doctorate in physics from the University of Cambridge, alongside more than 15 United States patents and 60 publications. Berger currently focuses on advancing research concepts into commercial products within semiconductors, optics, and nanotechnology while holding board positions at Decadent Drinks and Aryballe.
