Steve Westly

Steve Westly is the Founder and Managing Partner of The Westly Group, a venture capital firm based in San Francisco, California. His firm manages over $800 million in assets across five funds, investing primarily in sustainable energy, mobility, industrial technology, and cybersecurity. The active portfolio includes more than 45 companies backed by 30 major strategic investors, and has generated nine initial public offerings, featuring billion-dollar public market exits from Tesla Motors, SentinelOne, and Procore. Previously, Westly served as the California State Controller from 2003 to 2007, where he chaired the CalPERS board, and earlier worked as the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at eBay during its 1998 public offering. His career bridges public sector fiscal management and private sector technology expansion, with a current focus on funding early-stage companies driving global decarbonization and smart infrastructure.
