Steve Heffernan

Steve Heffernan is a serial entrepreneur, open source developer, and the former cofounder and Chief Technology Officer of Mux, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is best known as the creator of Video.js, an open source HTML5 video player launched in 2011 that has accumulated over 37,000 stars on GitHub and serves millions of users globally. Prior to Mux, Heffernan cofounded Zencoder, a cloud video encoding startup that participated in the Winter 2010 cohort of Y Combinator before being acquired by Brightcove in 2012. He later returned to Y Combinator in 2016 to launch Mux, a video infrastructure platform that has raised more than $82 million in venture funding to support thousands of developers.
