Maurizio Fazio

Maurizio Fazio is a Principal at Atlas Venture based in the Boston area, where he focuses on early-stage biotechnology company creation and novel therapeutic investments. He holds an MD from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and a PhD from Harvard Medical School, having conducted specialized melanoma research at Boston Children’s Hospital. Prior to his current position, Fazio served as a Research Fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and completed venture fellowships at Flagship Pioneering and Vida Ventures. He currently serves as a board observer for at least three active portfolio companies, including Accent Therapeutics, AAVantgarde Bio, and K36 Therapeutics, alongside several stealth-stage entities. Additionally, he has directed capital into emerging biotech firms such as Trace Neuroscience and Comanche Biopharma. Fazio leverages his physician-scientist background to evaluate early-stage therapeutics across oncology, rare diseases, and developmental and regenerative biology.
