Stephen Marcus

Stephen Marcus is the Co-Founder and General Partner at Riot Ventures, an early-stage and growth-stage venture capital firm based in Venice, California. Over a more than twenty-year career in technology infrastructure, he has served as the founder or chief executive officer of six different companies, specializing in the development of large-scale wireless networks and data centers. Through Riot Ventures, Marcus allocates investment checks of up to $100 million, backing enterprise and deep-tech companies that have reached a combined market capitalization exceeding $150 billion. His investment portfolio includes early equity stakes in publicly traded entities like Okta and Toast, alongside active board of director seats at Shield AI and Endurosat. He currently focuses his efforts on modernizing critical industrial sectors by funding emerging technologies across artificial intelligence, satellite communications, autonomous maritime vessels, and advanced nuclear reactors.
