Stefan Pflanz

Stefan Pflanz is the Executive Director at the Boehringer-Ingelheim Venture Fund, where he focuses on biopharma investments in the therapeutics sector. In this capacity, he manages venture capital allocations and currently represents the fund on the boards of directors for four United States-based portfolio companies. Before transitioning to venture capital in 2020, he spent over two decades in research leadership, including serving as Head of Target Research at Micromet and Principal Investigator of Cytokine Biology at Schering-Plough Biopharma. He also led the Immune Modulation Research team at Boehringer Ingelheim and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the DNAX Research Institute after earning his doctorate in molecular biology from RWTH Aachen in 1999. Pflanz leverages his extensive scientific background, which includes authoring fifty peer-reviewed articles and holding multiple patents, to identify and support emerging therapeutics targeting immunology, fibrosis, and cancer.
