Sridhar Tayur is the Ford Distinguished Research Chair and University Professor of Operations Management at Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As an entrepreneur, he founded the supply chain software company SmartOps, which pioneered the enterprise inventory optimization market before being acquired by SAP. He also established OrganJet, an organization designed to improve organ transplant matching and transport logistics across the United States. Tayur earned his doctorate and master's degrees in operations research from Cornell University and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from IIT Madras. Elected to the National Academy of Engineering, he has received numerous academic accolades, including the 2022 MSOM Best Paper award and the 2021 Pierskalla Award. His current work focuses on bridging academia and entrepreneurship through applied research in quantum computing, healthcare operations, and advanced supply chain management.
