Sophia Zhao

Sophia Zhao is a Partner for the AI Fund at Alumni Ventures, a venture capital firm managing over $1.5 billion in assets across more than 1,500 investments since 2014. Before joining Alumni Ventures, she held corporate development, operations, and capital advisory roles at prominent digital asset firms including Galaxy Digital, Huobi US, and Crypto.com starting in 2018. Her earlier career encompassed work across cloud computing, consumer goods, and mineral mining sectors, complemented by advanced degrees from the Yale School of Management, the University of British Columbia, and Simon Fraser University. She currently evaluates stage-agnostic deals involving frontier technologies and notable portfolio companies like Groq, Together AI, Lambda, and Oura. Zhao's investment focus centers on artificial intelligence data applications, Web3 infrastructure, and women-led ventures, while she also serves as a mentor and judge for Yale Tsai City and Techstars.
