Sophia Wood

Sophia Wood is the CEO of Friends of Wallacea, a tourism company focused on advancing wildlife conservation across emerging markets. Originally from the United States, she studied political science and launched her first entrepreneurial venture at age 21 before transitioning into international conservation work with Operation Wallacea in Fiji and Ecuador. Wood later entered the venture capital sector by joining Magma Partners, initially working as a part-time content writer before advancing to the firm's investment team. In this capacity, she evaluated and contributed to investment decisions for early-stage technology startups operating throughout Latin America. During her tenure in the regional technology ecosystem, she also co-founded Latamlist.com to provide dedicated English-language coverage of Latin American startup news. Her career currently focuses on bridging entrepreneurship and environmental advocacy by developing sustainable tourism initiatives in various developing regions worldwide.
