Sophia Alj

Sophia Alj is a tech entrepreneur and the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Chari.co, a FinTech and e-commerce startup serving retailers throughout Morocco and emerging markets. In this executive capacity, she oversees operations for a licensed financial institution that provides acquiring, issuing, processing, and value-added services alongside an agency banking network. Before launching her own venture, Alj spent four years as a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company, where she specialized in executing digital transformation projects across the African continent. Under her leadership, Chari.co participated in the Y Combinator Summer 2021 cohort and subsequently secured the largest Series A venture funding round in Moroccan history. Beyond her primary business focus, the mother of three young children is an active member of the Endeavor network and serves on the boards of various organizations.
