Simon King

Simon King is a Partner at Octopus Ventures based in London, United Kingdom, where he leads the firm's deep tech investment team. Since joining the venture capital firm in 2012, he has directed investments across materials science, robotics, and quantum computing, managing tens of millions in deployed capital for early-stage startups. His notable portfolio involvement includes backing augmented reality hardware developer WaveOptics, which was acquired by Snap Inc. for over $500 million in 2021. Prior to his venture capital career, he earned a PhD in Chemistry with a focus on solar energy and plastic electronics from Imperial College London, as well as an MSc in Physics from the University of Cambridge. King currently focuses on commercializing early-stage scientific research and supporting technical founders building foundational technologies in the clean energy and advanced electronics sectors.
