Shelby Bons is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Aether Energy, an AI-powered solar installation platform based in San Francisco, California. Founded in 2024 alongside co-founder Zayne Sagar, the Y Combinator-backed startup employs eight people and utilizes computer vision, lidar, and large language models to automate sales and operational workflows for rooftop solar installers. Prior to establishing Aether Energy, Bons developed machine learning-based physical systems modeling at climate-focused organizations, holding specialized technical engineering roles at both Sunrun and Voltaiq. She holds a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics, computer science, and philosophy from UC Berkeley, and she completed advanced coursework toward a graduate degree in computational science and engineering.
