Sharon Stevenson is a Co-founder, Managing Director, and Venture Partner at Okapi Venture Capital, where she leads the firm's life sciences investments. Before establishing Okapi in 2005, she served as Senior Vice President of Technology and Planning at SkinMedica, later acquired by Allergan, and worked as a Principal at Domain Associates. Her transition into venture capital followed 12 years in academic research, yielding over 132 publications alongside a DVM from Ohio State University, a PhD from UC Davis, and an MBA from UCLA Anderson. Throughout her 14-year investment career, Stevenson has directed capital into several successful healthcare startups, including Helixis, which was acquired by Illumina, and Focal Therapeutics, which was purchased by Hologic. She currently focuses on early-stage medical device and healthcare technology companies, serving on the boards of portfolio startups like WiserCare and BioTrace.
