Shady El Tohfa

Shady El Tohfa is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Amenli, a licensed digital insurance platform based in Cairo, Egypt. Founded in 2020, the Y Combinator-backed startup recently secured $2.3 million in funding led by EBRD Venture Capital to expand its operations and upgrade its technology infrastructure. Previously, he served as the Chief Commercial Officer and a founding team member at Paymob from 2015 to 2021, where he helped scale the financial technology company to serve tens of thousands of merchants across five distinct markets. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the American University in Cairo, where he also co-founded and presided over the university's business association. His current focus centers on digitizing insurance distribution, policy access, and claims management for individuals, families, and small businesses throughout the growing Egyptian market.
