Sehat Sutardja was a pioneering semiconductor executive and the co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Marvell Technology, based in the United States until his passing in September 2024. He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State University before completing his master's and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and computer sciences at UC Berkeley. Sutardja co-founded Marvell in 1995 alongside his wife, Weili Dai, and brother, Pantas Sutardja, ultimately securing over 440 patents and earning recognition as an IEEE Fellow. After introducing the foundational modular chip concept at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference in 2015, he actively invested in and backed several emerging semiconductor ventures, including Silicon Box, Alphawave, and DreamBig. His extensive career focused on advancing chiplet technology, hard drive read channels, and advanced chip packaging within the global semiconductor manufacturing sector.
