Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni is a Partner at Blue Horizon Corporation, a venture capital firm focused on sustainable food systems, based in Zürich, Switzerland. He previously founded Vegan Capital SA and Opteres Ltd, an art investment advisory firm established in 2007, and served as an economic advisor to Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi from 2014 to 2016. As an early backer of alternative proteins, he has invested in over 80 plant-based companies globally, most notably executing a 2012 early-stage investment in Beyond Meat. Outside of his venture capital activities, Castiglioni owns the award-winning Tuscan winery Querciabella and holds advisory board positions with international conservation organizations such as Sea Shepherd and Animal Equality. His current investment focus centers on deploying capital into disruptive agricultural technologies and alternative proteins to advance global animal welfare and environmental sustainability.
