Sebastian Schöfer

Sebastian Schöfer is an Investment Director at M Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Merck KGaA, based in Darmstadt, Germany. He joined the firm as a Senior Associate in 2017 following his tenure as an Investment Manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds, where he managed a diverse portfolio of nine early-stage medtech, biotech, and materials science companies, ultimately achieving four successful exits. Earlier in his career, he worked as a distribution manager for Eight19 and Azuri Technologies, both spin-offs from the University of Cambridge. He holds a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Arts degree in physics from the University of Texas at Austin. Today, Schöfer focuses his current investment strategy on electronics, sustainability, and frontier technologies, directing venture capital toward emerging hardware developers like the neuromorphic computing startup SynSense.
