Sebastian Alvarado

Sebastian Alvarado is a software engineering leader currently developing enterprise software tools at Shopify. Prior to joining the multinational technology company, he served as a founding team member at Relay, a financial technology platform designed for small and medium-sized businesses. During his tenure at Relay, Alvarado played a critical role in engineering the core product and scaling the business from its inception to $20 million in annual recurring revenue while acquiring 50,000 customers. Additionally, he brings direct entrepreneurial experience to his technical roles as the former chief technology officer and co-founder of Valari. He holds a degree in computer science with a specialized focus on artificial intelligence from the University of Toronto. Over his seven-year career, Alvarado's primary focus has remained on developing financial technology solutions, scaling early-stage enterprise software startups, and engineering robust technical infrastructure.
