Sean Hunt

Sean Hunt is the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Solugen, a bio-based chemical manufacturing company located in Houston, Texas. Since establishing the venture-backed enterprise in 2016, he has helped scale the organization to 57 employees while directing the development of novel metal catalysts and proprietary process technologies. Prior to launching this company, Hunt spent five years working as an Engineering and Technology Fellow and Intern at Merck & Co. from 2011 to 2016. He previously completed an engineering internship at NAVSEA between 2009 and 2010 before earning his doctorate in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Hunt also holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware. His current professional focus centers on the commercialization, manufacturing, and industrial scaleup of sustainable process technology and renewable chemicals.
