Scott Rocklage

Scott Rocklage is a Founding Partner at 5AM Ventures based in San Francisco, California. Before transitioning to venture capital, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cubist Pharmaceuticals, which was later acquired by Merck, and as President and CEO of Nycomed Salutar. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from UC Berkeley and a PhD from MIT, contributing to over 100 publications and holding more than 30 United States patents. Throughout his three-decade career in the life sciences sector, Rocklage has successfully guided multiple drugs through clinical trials and secured FDA approvals for Omniscan, Teslascan, and Cubicin. He has also held board leadership positions at several biotech firms, including Novira Therapeutics prior to its acquisition by Johnson & Johnson. His current focus centers on sourcing and scaling early-stage life science companies targeting unmet medical needs.
