Prior to his transition into the venture capital industry, he worked as an early engineer at SpaceX, where he directly contributed to the technical development of the Merlin engine systems and the Dragon capsule. His academic background includes Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University, alongside a Master of Business Administration from Stanford GSB. Over the past 13 years at Founders Fund, Nolan has directed early-stage hardtech investments across the aerospace, defense, and energy sectors, backing prominent technology enterprises that include Neuralink, Impulse Space, and Radiant Nuclear. His current operational focus centers on advancing domestic energy infrastructure and supply chain independence through General Matter, a dedicated nuclear fuel production company.
