Scott Hintz is the Managing Partner at Unshackled Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm based in New York City, New York. Prior to his current position, he served as an investor at Bain Capital Ventures and worked as an operator within multiple technology startups after earning his MBA from Harvard Business School. At Unshackled Ventures, which currently manages over $100 million in assets, Hintz has developed a global portfolio of more than 50 companies, featuring notable investments such as Mercury and Andela. He recently led a seed investment in the artificial intelligence startup xAI Tools in March 2025, published an investment thesis on Substack, and presented on defense technology investing at TechCrunch Disrupt. Hintz currently focuses on directing pre-seed and seed-stage capital into scalable platforms across the enterprise software, machine learning, financial technology, and defense technology sectors.
