Sarah Hymowitz

Sarah Hymowitz is a Partner at The Column Group based in San Francisco, California. Before transitioning to venture capital in 2021, she spent 22 years at Genentech, ultimately serving as the Vice President of Protein Sciences. During her extensive industry tenure, she oversaw large molecule drug discovery for more than 35 clinical candidates and managed small molecule teams responsible for over 25 investigational new drug candidates. She currently holds several board positions across the biotechnology sector, serving as Chairman at A2 Biotherapeutics and Judo Bio, and as a director for InduPro and Eikon Therapeutics. She earned a PhD in Biophysics from the University of California, San Francisco, and a BA in Chemistry from Swarthmore College. Her current focus centers on biotech venture investing and advancing early-stage protein science and drug discovery platforms.
