Sam Yu

Sam Yu is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Moreta, a fintech startup based in San Francisco, California. At Moreta, a three-person payments company participating in a Summer 2024 startup cohort, he directs technical strategy, product development, and operational scaling. Previously, Yu served as the Head of Research and Development at Stems, where he led the engineering efforts for the company's inaugural mobile application and generative artificial intelligence products. He holds a Computer Science degree from the University of Waterloo and completed software engineering internships at Apple, Google, Uber, and Meta. During his time at Meta, he contributed to an Instagram web search feature utilized by an audience of over 50 million users. His professional background centers on building consumer-facing software, scaling early-stage technical operations, and deploying generative AI solutions within the financial technology sector.
