Sam Mendel

Sam Mendel is the CEO and Co-founder of NetworkOcean, an underwater data center company based in San Francisco, California. Prior to establishing the business in 2023 alongside collaborator Eric Kim, he served as the Founder and CEO of CreatorCrew and CASHU, following his studies at Babson College and Olin College of Engineering. Under his leadership, NetworkOcean participated in the Y Combinator Summer 2024 batch and secured $600,000 in initial funding from investors including Refactor Capital and Climate Capital. The firm has secured letters of intent from six artificial intelligence companies and is currently testing a 1 MW capsule in the San Francisco Bay to achieve up to 30% power savings through water cooling. Mendel currently focuses on scaling sustainable AI infrastructure by leveraging ocean technology to reduce the environmental impact and operational expenses of GPU deployments.
