Sam Ellis

Sam Ellis is a Partner at Scout Ventures and the Managing Partner of WPMC, based in New York City, New York. Prior to transitioning into venture capital, he served as the technical co-founder of Dutchie, where he engineered the first version of the company's online cannabis marketplace software and helped scale the business into a recognized unicorn enterprise. Before his entrepreneurial career in the private sector, he spent time in the military serving as an Army intelligence officer and a software developer assigned to U.S. Cyber Command. He established his technical and analytical foundation while studying at West Point, where he graduated with a degree focused on Research and Applied Statistics. Today, his professional focus centers on leading pre-seed, seed, and incubation transactions to support early-stage software-as-a-service startups and broader technological innovation.
