Somar Somasegar

Somar Somasegar is a Managing Director at Madrona Venture Group based in Seattle, Washington. Before joining the venture capital firm in 2015, he spent 27 years at Microsoft, culminating in his role as Corporate Vice President of the Developer Division. During his corporate tenure, he oversaw the development of Visual Studio and .NET products used by tens of millions of developers globally, while simultaneously managing Microsoft's international research labs in Boston, China, India, and Israel. As an active investor, his portfolio includes more than 50 personal angel investments alongside notable venture-backed companies such as Snowflake, UiPath, and Statsig, which was acquired by OpenAI. He currently serves on the board of directors for UiPath. His primary investment focus centers on early-stage B2B enterprise startups operating across machine learning, next-generation cloud infrastructure, and intelligent applications.
