Ryan McCalley

Ryan McCalley is the Founder and Managing Partner of SQN Venture Partners, a venture debt financing firm based in Charleston, South Carolina. He oversees sourcing, operations, and portfolio construction, providing $1 million to $20 million in debt financing to Series A and B stage companies. Previously, McCalley spent over a decade as Senior Vice President at ATEL Ventures, managing underwriting and origination for a private equity firm with $2 billion in assets. He also co-founded PURE Energies, raising over $20 million from investors including New Enterprise Associates before its 2014 acquisition by NRG Energy. Earlier in his career, he served as a consultant at McKinsey & Company and earned a bachelor's degree in economics from UC Santa Barbara. His current investment focus spans capital-intensive sectors including climate technology, robotics, cloud infrastructure, and artificial intelligence.
