Russ MacTough

Russ MacTough is the Managing Director of Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures and a corporate venture advisor, based in Boston, Massachusetts. Since joining the corporate venture arm in 2015, he has directed early-stage investments ranging from $750,000 to $5 million, recently launching a $200 million second fund in July 2024. His investment strategy targets Seed to Series B software companies across insurtech, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and mobility, backing startups such as Turo and other emerging platforms. Previously, MacTough served as Vice President at Morgan Partners LLC, where he led insurance technology mergers and acquisitions, and worked as Director of Strategic Advisory Services at Silicon Valley Bank. Holding an undergraduate degree from Boston College and an MBA, his professional career centers on identifying and scaling innovative technologies that intersect with the property and casualty insurance sector.
