Roy Liu

Roy Y. Liu is a co-founder and Managing Director in the Technology Group at Hercules Capital, focusing on debt financing for venture-backed technology firms. Previously, he served as a Vice President at GrandBanks Capital and was a founding principal of VantagePoint Structured Investments. His earlier career includes co-founding the Boston office of Imperial Bank’s Emerging Growth Industries division, holding Chief Financial Officer positions at technology firms, and working in research and development at IBM, where he patented an asynchronous communication system. Liu holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, and he serves on the advisory board for Northeastern University’s IDEA incubator. With over 30 years of operating and finance experience, his current focus remains on structuring investments and providing capital to emerging technology enterprises.
