Ron Shigeta

Ron Shigeta is an active investor at Alix Ventures, a diligence advisor for venture firms including Starlight.vc and Mantaray.vc, and a Scientist in Residence at Babel Ventures. He previously served as a co-founder and Fast Biotech Investor at indieBio, where he deployed $15 million across a startup portfolio that subsequently reached an enterprise value exceeding $2 billion. Shigeta also co-founded and acted as the Science Officer for Wild Earth, a plant-based mycoprotein pet food company that raised over $15 million and launched the first cellular agriculture food product at retail scale. Drawing on his experience as a former biotechnology group leader, he has mentored and advised more than 100 early-stage startup teams developing new technologies. Holding a doctorate in biophysics and biochemistry, his current investment and advisory focus centers on synthetic biology, fermentation, and food technology.
