Ron Gonen

Ron Gonen is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Closed Loop Partners, an investment firm focused on the circular economy. The firm manages capital for major consumer goods companies, financial institutions, and retailers, securing financial backing from corporate partners including Walmart, Unilever, and PepsiCo to fund sustainable waste management and recycling technologies. Previously, he served as the Deputy Commissioner of Sanitation, Recycling, and Sustainability for New York City during the Bloomberg administration, where he oversaw municipal waste collection and environmental policy. He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, where he has also served as an Adjunct Professor, authored the 2022 Penguin Random House book The Waste-Free World, and holds multiple technology patents. Gonen currently focuses on scaling recycling infrastructure and advancing sustainable materials for global supply chains to generate financial returns alongside measurable environmental impact.
