Roel Bulthuis

Roel Bulthuis is the Managing Partner and Head of Investments at Syncona Investment Management Limited, where he oversees the investment team and contributes to the firm's leadership strategy. Before joining Syncona in 2023, he served as Managing Partner and Head of Healthcare at INKEF Capital, leading the firm's expansion into a prominent European healthcare investment platform. Previously, Bulthuis spent nearly 10 years at Merck Group as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of M-Ventures, following senior global business development positions at Merck Serono and investment banking roles at Fortis Bank. He holds an MSc in Biopharmaceutical Sciences from Leiden University and an MBA from the Helsinki School of Economics, and currently serves on the boards of iOnctura and Anaveon. With over 20 years of professional experience, his career remains focused on advancing life sciences venture capital and biotechnology investments.
