Rodrigo Villalta

Rodrigo Villalta Díaz is the Investment Manager and Managing Director at Caricaco Ventures, based in San José, Costa Rica. Working alongside President Amadeo Quirós, he oversees venture capital allocations and impact initiatives across the Central American entrepreneurial ecosystem through both the investment firm and the Caricaco Foundation. Under his direct leadership, the organization executed seed investments in 10 domestic startups during 2022 and subsequently expanded its total active portfolio to 20 regional companies by the end of 2024. During that same year, Villalta helped guide the venture firm to its first successful portfolio exit and organized the inaugural Caricaco Summit to connect regional founders with institutional capital. His current focus remains on deploying early-stage venture capital to accelerate technology startups and systematically strengthen the broader investment infrastructure throughout the Central American market.
