Rik Wehbring

Rik Wehbring is the Managing Director at Bioeconomy Capital, an early-stage venture capital investment firm based in Seattle, Washington. He brings over 20 years of technical and operational experience in Silicon Valley as a systems engineer, a multiple startup founder, and venture capitalist. Since 2015, Wehbring has directed strategic biotechnology investments at the two-employee financial services firm, backing portfolio companies such as Cyclic Materials. Alongside Dr. Rob Carlson, he also operates the strategic consulting firm Biodesic, advising corporate and government clients on the future economic impacts of biology. He holds a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics with Distinction from Cornell University. His current focus remains on funding and scaling innovative bioeconomy enterprises that bridge the gap between advanced biological research and broad commercial industrial applications.
