Richard Yu

Richard Yu is a biotech entrepreneur, investor, and scientist based in San Francisco, California. He brings over 15 years of experience in life sciences startups, previously serving as the Scientific and Operations Director at MBC Biolabs, a leading biotechnology incubator, and as a Principal at the life sciences venture capital fund Mission Bay Capital. Earlier in his career, he co-founded the algae biofuel startup GPB in 2008 and worked as an Investigator at The Molecular Sciences Institute, focusing on cellular information processing. Yu earned a PhD in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University in 2000, following a BA in Biophysics and Computer Science with a focus on artificial intelligence and graphics from UC Berkeley in 1993.
