Richard Waitumbi

Richard Waitumbi is a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where he leads the education and workforce vertical for the firm's Inclusive Growth private equity strategy. Before joining the firm in January 2023, he served as a Principal within the Double Impact Fund at Bain Capital, directing investments across the education sector. His earlier career includes roles as an investment professional at New Mountain Capital and a management consultant at Bain and Company. Waitumbi holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar and won a $10,000 investment strategies competition in 2019, alongside dual engineering degrees from Dartmouth College. He currently sits on the boards of Interplay Learning, Ignite Reading, and TNTP. Waitumbi applies over a decade of private equity experience to scale educational technology and skilled trades training programs.
