Richard Ransohoff

Richard Ransohoff is a Boston-based neurologist and biotech investor currently serving as a Venture Partner at Third Rock Ventures. Before joining the firm in 2018 to drive biotechnology company creation, he spent thirty years at the Cleveland Clinic founding and directing the Neuroinflammation Research Center, followed by corporate leadership roles at Biogen and as Chief Medical Officer at Abata Therapeutics. He is also associated with Trace Neuroscience, an emerging startup recently recognized as a 2025 Biotech Fierce 15 honoree and Next Gen Class of 2026 member. His academic background includes earning a Doctor of Medicine from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts in Languages and Literature from Bard College. Today, his primary focus centers on evaluating research and development opportunities to improve patient lives globally within the neuroinflammation sector.
