Richard Peng

Richard Peng is the founder and Managing Partner of Genesis Capital, an independent venture capital firm operating out of Hong Kong, China. Prior to establishing the firm in 2015, he served as Vice President of Tencent and General Manager of Tencent Mergers and Acquisitions, where he leveraged his extensive dealmaking expertise to direct corporate transactions. He launched Genesis Capital alongside Kurt Xu, the former Vice General Manager of Tencent Mergers and Acquisitions, and the duo subsequently raised over $450 million in initial capital commitments. The firm successfully secured financial backing from several prominent institutional investors, specifically including Temasek Holdings’ Pavilion Capital and the International Finance Corporation. Peng currently focuses his efforts on executing growth-stage investments in technology-driven internet startups across China and the United States, maintaining highly concentrated portfolios of approximately fifteen portfolio companies per fund.
