Richard Gaster

Richard Gaster is a Managing Partner at venBio, where he leads life sciences investments and directs the formation of new biotechnology enterprises. In his current capacity, he has launched over a dozen portfolio companies, building upon his previous tenure as a Senior Associate at Third Rock Ventures. Gaster earned an MD and a PhD in Bioengineering from Stanford University and received a BSE in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He subsequently completed a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency across multiple Harvard Medical School affiliated hospitals before transitioning fully into the investment sector. Recognized for his scientific contributions, he holds over a dozen patents and has authored numerous peer-reviewed research papers in leading medical and nanotechnology journals. His professional focus remains centered on combining his clinical expertise with venture capital to build and scale early-stage therapeutics startups.
