Rich Levandov is a Managing Director at Avalon Ventures, where he leads early-stage technology investments while remaining active across the Boston, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle markets. Over his 25-year career as an entrepreneur, operator, and venture capitalist, he co-founded Phoenix Technologies to help launch the PC revolution and served as an early Vice President at America Online. Prior to joining Avalon Ventures as a Partner in 2007, Levandov co-founded Masthead Venture Partners and worked as an affiliate partner at Softbank Technology Ventures. His investment portfolio features high-growth companies including Zynga, Cloudant, and Backupify, alongside successful exits such as Cloudkick to Rackspace and Pictela to AOL. He holds a BS from Binghamton University, codes in PHP and Ruby, and has served as a judge for the MIT 100K annual business plan competition.
