Renaud Laplanche is the Managing Partner of Laplanche Ventures, an early-stage investment vehicle based in San Francisco, California. Previously, he served as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LendingClub from 2006 to 2016, leading the peer-to-peer lending platform to its initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in 2014. Before his entrepreneurial career, he worked in fixed income derivatives at JPMorgan and held roles at Dow Jones, having earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Through his venture fund, he has invested in over 20 companies, securing notable exits with Upstart and Ladder Insurance while serving on the board of Affirm. Recently leading a 2024 seed round for Cover Genius, his current focus remains on providing capital to seed-stage startups across the financial technology and enterprise software sectors.
