Raju Kucherlapati

Raju Kucherlapati is the Paul C. Cabot Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School, where he leads a laboratory focused on human disease mutations and cancer genomics. Prior to his current academic appointment, he earned a PhD in Genetics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in genetics at Yale University. Through his ongoing research, Kucherlapati contributes high-throughput sequencing data to The Cancer Genome Atlas consortium, systematically analyzing 500 tumors and normal tissue samples across 20 distinct tumor types. His laboratory also specializes in cloning genes linked to developmental disorders such as Noonan syndrome, specifically investigating mutations within the RAS-MAP Kinase pathway. His career is defined by the application of large-scale genomic sequencing to identify structural variations, including translocations, duplications, and deletions, to advance targeted therapies for complex human diseases.
