Rajinder Balaraman

Rajinder Balaraman is a Managing Director at Matrix Partners India, based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Before assuming his current position in early 2022, he co-founded and directed investments at Blume Ventures and held earlier roles at ChrysCapital. Bringing over two decades of experience to the Indian startup ecosystem, he currently oversees a portfolio of more than 50 early- and growth-stage technology companies, including notable entities such as Practo, Razorpay, and Acko. In 2024, he led an investment in the artificial intelligence startup Krutrim, building on an educational foundation that includes an MBA from the Indian School of Business and an engineering degree from BITS Pilani. Balaraman focuses his venture capital efforts on early-stage investments across the software-as-a-service, financial technology, and deep technology sectors, recently co-authoring a comprehensive 2023 report on India's SaaS resurgence.
