Rachel Diane Field

Rachel Diane Field is a Principal at Engine Ventures, where she specializes in deep tech investments across the energy, health, and infrastructure sectors. In her current capacity, she leads the firm's Pathways Workshop Series and Entrepreneurial Fellows Program to support protofounders in scaling breakthrough technologies. Field serves as a board observer for four portfolio companies, including Mantel, Sublime Systems, Genomines, and DBOS. Before transitioning into venture capital, she co-founded two startups, including one originating directly from her academic research on implantable microdevices and ultrasound control. She earned both a Master of Science and a doctorate in biomedical engineering from Columbia University, alongside a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Harvard University. Her professional background centers on translating academic research into commercial products, with a specific focus on the intersection of hardware and biology.
