Philipp Handel is a London-based Partner at General Catalyst, where he leads European investment activities focusing on early-stage and growth-stage technology companies. Before joining the firm in 2023, he served as a Partner at Oxford Science Enterprises, directing capital into deep tech and life sciences ventures, and held roles at Oxford University Innovation. Throughout his career, Handel has led more than 20 investments and managed funds with hundreds of millions in assets under management, backing startups such as Wayve and Isomorphic Labs. He recently led General Catalyst's participation in Wayve's $1.05 billion Series C funding round in May 2024 and holds an MBA from INSEAD alongside engineering degrees from the Technical University of Munich. His current investment focus centers on scaling European startups across artificial intelligence, climate technology, healthcare, and frontier technology from early to Series B stages.
