Phil Kim

Phil Kim is the Executive Director of Michelson Philanthropies and the Chief Executive Officer of the Michelson 20MM Foundation, operating out of Los Angeles, California. Since joining the philanthropic ecosystem established by Dr. Gary K. Michelson in 2009, he has concurrently served as the Managing Director of Michelson Impact Ventures. Leading the organization's education practice and social impact investment platforms since 2015, Kim has provided initial seed funding to more than 40 mission-aligned technology startups. Over the past eight years, his venture capital initiatives have resulted in direct investments across approximately 80 startup companies, frequently intersecting with academic programs at institutions like MIT and Stanford University. His current professional focus centers on leveraging early-stage venture capital to scale purpose-driven enterprises that address systemic challenges in education and other related social impact sectors.
