Peter Sugihara

Peter Sugihara is a Managing Partner at Bain Capital Ventures based in San Francisco, California. Before assuming his current position, he served as a General Partner at the firm starting in 2013 and previously held investment roles at Battery Ventures and Goldman Sachs after earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Stanford University. He manages a portion of the firm's $5 billion in assets under management and has executed over 50 investments, including notable exits such as the 2021 initial public offering of Gainsight and the 2018 acquisition of SendGrid by Twilio. Recently, he led a $500 million Series C funding round for Perplexity AI in April 2024 and joined the board of directors at Vercel in 2023. Sugihara currently focuses his investment strategy on early-stage opportunities across enterprise software, artificial intelligence, and developer platforms.
