Peter Farina

Peter Farina is the Executive in Residence for the East Coast at Canaan, a venture capital position he has held since 2008. Prior to joining the investment firm, he served as the Senior Vice President of Development at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. During his corporate pharmaceutical career, he directed the research, clinical development, and regulatory approval processes for multiple novel therapeutics, successfully registering treatments specifically targeting HIV, COPD, emphysema, and diabetes. His academic credentials include a doctorate in organic chemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo, postdoctoral research in bioorganic chemistry at Pennsylvania State University, and an honorary doctorate from the University of Connecticut. Farina currently leverages his extensive drug development expertise to advise early-stage biotechnology entrepreneurs on advancing innovative medicines from initial laboratory research to commercial patient availability.
