Peter Barrett

Peter Barrett, PhD, is a Partner at Atlas Venture based in Boston, United States, where he specializes in life sciences and biotech venture capital. Before joining the investment firm in 2002, he co-founded and served as Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer of Celera Genomics, the enterprise that sequenced the human genome in 2001. In addition, he previously held senior management positions at PerkinElmer and has directed multiple portfolio startups toward successful acquisitions by major pharmaceutical firms, including Novartis, Allergan, and Biogen. Barrett currently acts as Chairman of Synlogic, sits on the corporate boards of Revvity and Obsidian Therapeutics, and serves as the faculty chair of the Blavatnik Fellowship at Harvard Business School.
